Surf Air leads on an airline and semi bid

Surf Air Mobility was the biggest mover on the list, up 22.6%. The one full article covering it was a BNK sector-leaders piece from midday Friday, which had airlines up about 2.6% as a group with Surf Air up 13.3% at the time and American Airlines up 4.3%, and semiconductors up about 2.3% led by MaxLinear at +11.9% and Tower Semiconductor at +7.4%. That's a sector-flow note, not company news, so there is nothing specific to Surf Air behind the move in the material.

VerifyMe reverse split and OpenWorld merger

VerifyMe is down 18% and there is real news behind it. Shareholders approved the merger with OpenWorld Ltd at Thursday's annual meeting, authorising issuance of more than 20% of VerifyMe common stock to OpenWorld holders, with 6,071,943 votes for and 89,082 against. Separately the company set a 1-for-10 reverse split effective 12:01am ET on 29 September, so shares trade post-split Monday under the same VRME symbol, with the ratio picked by the board from the 1-for-2 to 1-for-10 range holders approved last October. The special cash dividend of $0.15 declared 18 September becomes $1.50 post-split, but it only pays if the merger closes. Two charter proposals failed to get a majority, including the new class of blockchain common stock and the change of name to OpenWorld, Inc. All five directors were elected and MaloneBailey was ratified as auditor. The merger deadline was extended to 31 October under an amendment effective 10 August, the third such extension. There are two 8-K filings on the list matching these events, and a GuruFocus transcript of the meeting that is paywalled beyond the opening remarks.

Credo up on heavy option volume

Credo Technology was up 7.7%. Two items, neither explaining the move. Options activity was heavy, 65,665 contracts, roughly 6.6 million underlying shares or 70% of its average daily volume, with the $195 strike call expiring the same day taking 6,596 contracts. Separately, ETFs were net sellers of $36.0 million on 23 September, led by SOXX cutting $28.0 million and BAI $8.8 million, after net buying of $14.3 million on the 22nd.

Generac and the Amazon generator contract

Generac rose 5.1%. UBS reiterated Buy with a $340 target following the 16 September long-term supply agreement to provide backup generators for Amazon data centres, with a $2.4 billion front end and up to $8 billion total. Generac's data centre backlog was $1.6 billion as of Q2 2026 against $150 million of contracted orders a year earlier. UBS cut its 2027-28 residential sales growth assumption to 5% and legacy commercial and industrial to 6%, both from 7.5%, blaming higher interest rates, and lifted its 2028 adjusted EBITDA estimate by $24 million on net (minus $27 million from the weaker core, plus $51 million from data centre product). The article notes Amazon also received a seven-year warrant for up to 1,693,745 shares at $200.93, and that Needham ($283), Barclays (Equalweight, $278) and Cantor Fitzgerald ($333) have all weighed in since the deal.

Costco Q4 beat with a full analyst cluster behind it

Costco was up 2.9% after fiscal Q4. Net sales rose 11.2% to $93.9 billion over the 16-week quarter, diluted EPS was $6.75 against $5.87, which included a one-time $0.15 benefit from IEEPA tariff refunds net of reinvestment in member value. Comparable sales were up 9.4%, but only 6.7% stripping out fuel and currency; US comps were +10.7% (+7.2% adjusted) while Canada lagged at +4.6% adjusted. Digitally enabled sales grew 19.5% and membership fee income came in at $1.85 billion versus $1.72 billion. Full year: sales $297.2 billion, up 10.1%, EPS $20.76 against $18.21, $20.2 billion of cash versus $14.2 billion, 939 warehouses. Worth noting the GuruFocus piece describes shares slipping slightly in premarket on the print, so the 2.9% gain came later in the session. Headline-only items alongside this show three target cuts despite the beat, Wells Fargo to $950, Mizuho to $1,065 and Bernstein to $1,143 with Outperform kept, plus a $7.5 billion capex plan announced for fiscal 2027. ETF flows were also supportive, with $168.3 million of net buying on 23 September led by SPY at $90.1 million.

Vertiv acquisition and a Wells Fargo initiation

Vertiv rose 3.2%. A subsidiary signed a definitive agreement to buy King Environmental Services Ltd, expected to close in Q4 2026, with financial terms not disclosed and no strategic rationale given in the filing. A GuruFocus note also flagged a Wells Fargo Overweight initiation with a $340 target, though the item dates that initiation to October 2023, so treat it as a rating summary rather than fresh news. The same piece puts GF Value at $175.83 against a $252.48 price, calls the stock 43.6% overvalued, and notes $3.88 million of insider selling over three months. Vertiv also appeared in an ETF outflow note on iShares S&P 500 Growth, which shed about $142.4 million week over week.

Oracle, the largest headline cluster on the list

Oracle was down 1.8% and dominates the list by volume of headlines, all headline-only. The thread running through them is Project Jupiter: a force majeure notice and project delay involving Blue Owl, public opposition to the New Mexico data centre, and a threat to Oracle's 2028 AI data centre target, with headlines noting ripples through AI financing and SoftBank shares falling on the same news. Oracle's own line, per one wire post, is that force majeure notices are commonplace at this scale and preserve contractual rights. Around that sit AI-debt items: Goldman warning on big tech AI debt while also forecasting hyperscaler AI capex rising 54% to $1.2 trillion in 2027, and Michael Burry warning Microsoft, Amazon and Oracle could face write-off shocks. Stifel reiterated Buy amid the project update. Several of these headlines reference larger single-day drops of 3.5% and 7%, which are earlier sessions, not today.

Apple margin warning against a small gain

Apple gained 1.5%. The one substantive headline is Bernstein cutting its December-quarter EPS forecast to $2.87 from $3.00, below the $2.92 consensus, on sharply higher memory chip costs pressuring iPhone margins, while keeping Outperform. Also on the list: a Qualcomm royalty agreement extension with Apple, an insider sale by SVP Jennifer Newstead of $815,803, and a large batch of routine ETF holdings-update items showing funds adding Apple, including $1.59 billion of net ETF buying.

Nebius upgraded but lower today

Nebius fell 2.5% despite a BNP Paribas upgrade to Outperform with the target lifted to $399. The related headlines reference gains of 5.7% and 8% on that news, so the upgrade reaction appears to have been an earlier session and today gave some back.

Three items tagged CAN that aren't about the company

Three full-text items carry a CAN ticker tag and a -4.6% move but have no connection to the company. They are a Trump Truth Social post congratulating Jerry Kassar on re-election as chairman of the New York Conservative Party, a wire report that Russia could immediately restart 80% of its Black Sea and Sea of Azov grain ports if diplomacy succeeds, with three terminals covering 20% of that infrastructure badly damaged and needing months of repair, and a line from USTR Greer that agreements have been reached with China on a subset of tradable goods. Nothing here explains the 4.6% decline.

Smaller moves and routine filings

Celularity was up 5.7% with nothing behind it in the material beyond a Nasdaq earnings-calendar page carrying a single estimate for the June 2026 quarter and no usable data. The rest is quiet: CRISPR down 2.6% with a stock analysis piece and a Form 4, Revolution Medicines up 2.6% alongside a $1.96 million director sale by Elizabeth Anderson, NetApp up 2.0%, Iovance up 1.9% hitting a 52-week high at $10.98, SanDisk up 1.4% in the AI memory group, and Planet Labs down 1.3% with its Pelican-12 satellite arriving in Florida for launch. Below that, Astera Labs, Amphenol, AMC, Netflix, Broadcom, Marathon Petroleum, AngloGold, Axsome, Incyte, Rocket Lab, TSMC and Butterfly Network all moved about a percent or less on routine filings, ETF holdings updates and single analyst notes.
