Oil slide and the Iran headlines driving it

The loudest thing in the feed is crude. Market panels carried inside several of the Investing.com pages show Brent futures at 108.85, down 4.04%, and WTI at 99.71, down 4.24%, with the site's own lead story headlined "FTSE 100 today: Stocks extends slide as oil sinks on hopes of U.S.-Iran talks" and a companion piece on sterling gaining as the dollar slips on Iran diplomacy bets. The same panels show the S&P 500 at 7,580.07, down 1.82%, the Dow down 1.09% at 51,770, the FTSE 100 at 10,702.71, down 0.25%, gold futures up 0.58% at 3,921 and silver up 2.14% at 50.33. Around that, headline-only wires fill in the geopolitics: Iran's IRGC reports an oil tanker struck a naval mine and caught fire in the eastern Strait of Hormuz; separately, Iranian officials have left Doha after indirect talks with Washington while a draft proposal circulates, with Tehran insisting the US naval blockade ends before any final deal. Vitol's CEO is quoted across several headline items saying a correction "could be quite severe" if the US and Iran reach an agreement, that by end-2026 demand will have shrunk by roughly 3 million barrels a day, that it would take a full year for demand to recover to 2025 levels, and that the world cannot cope with a larger disruption than today's. ADNOC's chief says the world has "eroded its supply buffers." All of those are headline-level only, so I can't give you the reasoning behind them beyond what's quoted.

Marvell-Lumentum and the chip backdrop

Two headline items flag Marvell agreeing a $115 billion all-stock deal for Lumentum, framed by Investor's Business Daily as creating an AI connectivity leader. The detail behind the deal isn't in anything I read in full, but a Marvell Form 8K page I did read carries the ticker line MRVL at -10.05%, so the market reaction on Marvell's side was sharply negative on the day. A TradingView headline on LITE notes it testing mid-channel support. Separately, IBD headlines say Check Point fell on a Q3 revenue and billings miss, and NAPCO Security stock tumbled 20% after a fiscal Q1 revenue miss.

KeyBanc cuts three space and defense targets for the same reason

Three notes I read in full, all published within minutes of each other, all cut targets while keeping Overweight ratings, and all cite the same cause: broader sector multiple compression from near-term award timing, the midterm election overhang, and rising rates. Firefly Aerospace goes to $35 from $50, with the shares at $17.93 and down 47% over six months; the note says Alpha Flights 8 and 9 are targeted for Q4 2026 with Flight 9 contingent on Flight 8, most of the 2027 manifest is sold, six lunar missions are awarded including the $144 million Blue Ghost and $75 million MoonFall contracts, and roughly $940 million of liquidity sat on the balance sheet at the end of Q2 2026, so KeyBanc doesn't expect a near-term raise. Intuitive Machines goes to $30 from $38, shares at $10.67 and down 58% over six months, with six awarded missions, Altus-1 launching with IM-3 in Q1 2027 and the remaining four satellites in 2028; the firm frames the Navigation and Space Network Services segment as a bridge from milestone revenue to recurring service revenue. Both notes point to NASA's next Commercial Lunar Payload Services award expected 7 November. AeroVironment goes to $200 from $220, shares at $126.11 after a 66% fall over the past year, with the $465 million Army E-HEL award and LOCUST's first international order cited as strengthening the longer-term counter-UAS case; KeyBanc expects limited FY27 contribution from newer platforms and is watching P550 conversion, Switchblade delivery timing, SCDE backlog and the Salt Lake City capacity expansion, with consensus at $3.24 EPS for FY27 after a trailing loss of $4.07.

SBI Holdings H1 beat

SBI reported H1 FY2026 EPS of 127.63 against a 101.01 forecast, about 26.4% ahead. Revenue was JPY 1,057.5 billion, up 17.2%; pretax profit JPY 324.3 billion, up 52.9%; profit for the period JPY 249.1 billion, up 52.6%; profit attributable to owners JPY 230.6 billion, up 39.1%, with annualised ROE of 23.2%. Financial services did the work, with segment pretax profit above JPY 200 billion for the first time, up 69.7%. SBI SECURITIES passed 17 million Japanese accounts, assets under custody rose 39% to JPY 79 trillion and the investment trust balance rose 49.5% to JPY 32.3 trillion. The dividend was lifted to JPY 80 at year-end, JPY 110 annual. Despite that, the stock was down 1.67% at 2,818.5, roughly 27% off its 52-week high; the write-up attributes the muted reaction to caution over valuation and the sheer spread of projects — digital assets, stablecoins, AI, media, Vietnam expansion, a JPY 50 trillion AUM target by 2030 — rather than anything specific in the numbers.

PCBL Chemical: less volume, better margin

PCBL's Q2 FY2027 showed revenue up 14% to INR 2,474 crore, EBITDA up 12% to INR 310 crore and PAT up 20% to INR 74 crore, with the shares up 2.04% at 282.6. Export carbon black volume fell 18% quarter on quarter, which management said was deliberate — they walked away from low-margin business in Southeast Asia and other spot markets. EBITDA per tonne was about INR 19,800, or INR 17,500 stripping out a INR 2,300 per tonne benefit from a full INR 33 crore US tariff refund. MD Nilesh Gandhi said the 7% volume growth target for FY2027 now looks "a little bit challenging" given raw material availability and competition, while sticking to double-digit growth in average EBITDA per tonne. Project Alchemy is targeting INR 200-250 crore of savings but delivered only INR 10-15 crore in the quarter, with the bulk expected from Q4 FY2027. Aquapharm contributed INR 433 crore revenue and INR 42 crore EBITDA.

United Foodbrands: 41% growth, stock down 5%

Q2 FY27 consolidated revenue rose 40.9% year on year to INR 429 crore with same-store sales up 24.5%, dine-in transaction volume up 56% and delivery up 47%. Growth was entirely volume-led — no price increases in four quarters — which also meant average bill realisation came under pressure as the cheaper Big Buffet format expanded. Mature-store restaurant operating margin was 14.7%, new-store margin 7.4%, gross margin 65.5% and down 30bp sequentially. The store count ended at 274 with a target of 300-plus by FY27-end and a raised FY2030 target of 425-450. The stock fell 5% to 603.3; the article points to the sequential gross margin dip, higher corporate costs and lower bill realisation as the likely reasons.

A thick cluster of analyst target changes, headlines only

Beyond the KeyBanc notes, the feed carries dozens of one-line broker items, most duplicated across Investing.com's UK and news feeds. AbbVie alone draws three separate raises — Bernstein to $275 on pipeline strength, RBC Capital on immunology growth, and Canaccord on pipeline progress. Other raises named: Bernstein on nVent Electric (strong demand), Gilead (strong growth) and Capri to $24 (margin beat); RBC on General Dynamics (submarine strength) and AstraZeneca (strong results); Keefe Bruyette on CBOE (derivatives), First Business Financial and Amerant Bancorp; Guggenheim on Starbucks (strong sales); Piper Sandler on Mid-America Apartment, PBF Energy and Blue Owl. Cuts: Bernstein SocGen on Qualcomm over handset concerns, Keefe Bruyette on Burke & Herbert, and HSBC on Beiersdorf citing slowing Nivea sales and limited margin upside. Evercore ISI upgraded Mohawk Industries to Outperform, D.A. Davidson upgraded Franklin Electric, Stifel reiterated Buy on Repligen at $207, StoneX reiterated Buy on Shopify ahead of earnings and on Qualcomm ahead of results, and Morgan Stanley named CaixaBank a top pick on an expected net interest income rebound. Nasdaq's consensus-target screens add mechanical moves: Freddie Mac preferred down 39.14% to $13.11, Fannie Mae down 22.93% to $6.71, Theriva up 60% to $4.08, West Pharmaceutical up 12.52% to $467.89, among others. None of these carry reasoning beyond the headline.

Everything else is filings and chart posts

The bulk of the remaining feed is regulatory boilerplate — ten Form 8K and Form 4 pages that I read in full and which contain no content whatsoever beyond the filing title and the site's standard market furniture. The only information in them is the ticker move printed on each page: NRX Pharmaceuticals -14.66%, Strive -10.90%, Valion Bio -10.86%, Marvell -10.05%, Veeco -9.18%, FTAI Aviation -4.46%, PROG Holdings +3.79%, Choice Hotels -1.60%, Intrusion -1.69%, Xeris -0.37%, Meta -1.53%. What the filings actually say is not disclosed in any of them. Alongside that sit roughly fifty TradingView chart-opinion posts on gold, Nasdaq, Bitcoin, XRP, Solana, BNB, TRON and crude, which are individual traders' technical views and carry no reported facts. A handful of smaller corporate headlines round it out: Ingersoll Rand acquiring IVEK, Theriva selling its antibiotic-degrading enzyme portfolio to Biossil, Rectitude acquiring Mr. Butler, UroGen dosing its first UGN-501 patient, Enlivex posting positive 12-month knee osteoarthritis data, Syntec Optics citing a 25% increase in space reconnaissance orders, Intrusion completing a $4 million debt-for-equity exchange, Landstar's CEO buying $714,619 of stock, and Blackstone-led investors buying into LNG Canada for $3.1 billion. Strategy's Saylor posted the purchase of 811 BTC for $65.5 million at an average $80,846, taking holdings to 849,327 BTC, alongside $208 million of STRC repurchases and $164 million raised selling 1.18 million MSTR shares. Binance says it is working to resume withdrawals for additional networks with the next phase planned for Tuesday.
